Overview of Responsibilities
Work directly with the Director of Interactive Technology to perform a variety of duties in the development, design, programming, use of content management system, testing, implementation, and maintenance of the Families that Can website. Support the Association’s mission through strategic and effective communications efforts.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES/ Essential Duties
• Develop program specifications, script and query creation, coding of program procedures and development, execution of test plans as needed for website development.
• Migrate the existing Families that Can website to the Association’s Moveable Type platform.
• Provide continuity to the Association’s website, including aspects of the website platform and content management system, development, design and marketing.
• Program and develop graphic design to support interactive content; develop multimedia and other applications.
• Utilize desktop publishing, graphics design, audio sound effects, digital photographs, video footage and other technical software for the website.
• Meet with FTC and Association staff to consult regarding development and maintenance of web pages; provide design and technical support in updating web pages as new trends and programs are developed.
• Establish systems to monitor website users, and analyze a variety of data including number of user visits, paths utilized, and time spent on each section; evaluate user trends and recommend modifications to provide on-going improvement of the website.
• Plan, develop and implement a social media plan in collaboration with the Families that Can communications staff person.
• Participate in a variety of work groups, committees, etc. to design, develop, and implement web-based applications to promote FTC and Association programs and objectives.
• Support FTC and Association’s overall communications objectives.
o Consult with parents and partner organizations on the most effective means of informing parents and general public on matters of particular interest via online communications efforts.
o Coordinate outreach to parents via Voter Voice.
o Support Families that Can’s efforts to communicate with parents and other stakeholders using electronic communications such as eNewsletters, social media etc.
• Work collaboratively with Families that Can and communications staff for design, branding, content and other elements of the website.
• Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Interactive Technology or designee.
PREFERRED CAPABILITIES
Any combination of training, experience and/or education equivalent to: graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, design, graphic arts, or related field and two years of recent experience with client/server, database and web development tools.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Current webpage software applications and tools.
• Moveable Type platform, database applications (e.g., iMIS or equivalent) and online communications tools (e.g., Informz or equivalent).
• FTP/HTTP concepts and technologies.
• Troubleshooting for PC platforms and various Internet browsers and versions.
• Accepted design concepts, Graphical User Interface and standards.
• Project management methodologies and concepts.
• File size and image compression issues.
• Graphic creation and manipulation tools.
• Technical aspects of field of specialty.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Advanced techniques in communications, public relations and marketing as well as web and social networking strategies.
• Basic copyright laws.
ABILITY TO:
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Operate standard office equipment including microcomputers and related software applications.
• Apply web programming languages and technologies.
• Design and implement user-friendly and creative web pages, forms and surveys.
• Design and develop professional quality graphics for use on website.
