Job Description

* We are looking for a senior programmer with strong Video encoding skills to facilitate the development of our online presence. Job Specifics:
* Create a website similar to YouTube and CBC video ( http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Shows)
* Website Template Production for an Open Source Content Management System
* Coding features for our website that will interface into content delivery and video distribution networks such as Kaltura.
* Enable simple publication of video from a delivery platform such as Amazon Cloud front to both embedded flash players and a variety of HTML5 clients such as the Apple iPhone and the BlackBerry 9000/9700.
* Ensure that all code, is implemented in a way, that will provide high performance through use of various techniques such as object caching using a PHP object cache or object memory caching using memcached, database caching and a content delivery network.

Skills

* Relevant Online Video Experience.
* 3 or more years of experience with open source systems at an advanced level. You understand how to write video plugins and filters and have a couple of your plugins listed in the plugins directory.
* You must be able to provide reference implementations that work and are accessible over the Internet - ONLY past WEB VIDEO experience will be considered.
* You need to be passionate about video and have an in depth understand of video delivery over the Internet. Demonstrable experience with h264 video, flash media server would be a requirement. If your idea of making a web video is to encode with vp6f in a .flv container at a single bit rate, this job is not for you. You need to know how to deliver video to both flash clients and HTML5 clients, i.e, the iPad will be a client that will be receiving video from us.
* Strong understanding of web standards and how to produce sites that validate correctly. Your template mark-up needs to produce code that is semantically correct.
* Exposure to Search Engine Optimization for Video is definitely an asset, as would any exposure to video monetization through advertising.

Employment Conditions
We have a number of Projects we will need help with. This will be a project per project based contract.
You will be required to sign an Non Disclosure Agreement.
